The McCain/Palin mob

My buddy over at www.eightbits.org posted a great video showing the ignorance of those attending at least one Sarah Palin speech.

You mean “Thank god for partisan journalism
Hehe, Steve I appreciate your commentary. I meant independent journalism due to the fact that there are citizens in our country taking on the responsibility of reporting outside of the major news networks.
I absolutely agree that the videographer is partisan, but that’s the point of political activism. I also agree that a person with an opposing political view (i.e., pro-McCain and anti-Obama) could go to an Obama rally and get people to say some stupid stuff. I DO NOT believe you could get those people to say they believe McCain is associated with an Irish paramilitary organization (or Irish governmental agency for that matter) regardless of how often that question is asked, because that rumor has not yet been spread (count this as instance #1!). The journalist (prize-winning or otherwise) asked the questions regarding Obama being a terrorist or Islamic can be seen by simply using your favorite search engine and typing either:
* Obama terrorist (http://www.google.com/search?q=obama+terrorist)
* Obama Islamic (http://www.google.com/search?q=obama+islamic)
I could not find anything linking McCain to the IRA with a
* mccain IRA OR “irish republican army” (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mccain+“irish+republican+army”+OR+ira)
, though there was plenty for
* mccain terrorist (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mccain+terrorist)
The people highlighted in the piece in my original post show how much effect rumor has on people who are unwilling to disbelieve what they hear on in popular and independent media. What I appreciate about the video from http://www.eightbits.org is that the videographer lets people embarrass themselves (at least, I hope they’d be embarrassed seeing themselves in that video).
Back to the point of comparing a presidential candidate to the VP candidate — I was in the same boat you are when the discussion started. I asked K something along the lines of, “Why do I care if Palin is fit to be President of the US?”. The arguments came in on all the airwaves and Net pipelines such as “what if McCain has a heart attack” or “he has skin cancer…”, but I still shrugged it off thinking that so many Presidents in the past have (probably) had similar issues. Then I started to see him move, and hear how thin his voice sounds — the man appears to be in poor health. He’s old, so he’s probably getting stiff, but that’s not what America wants to see in a President with a completely unqualified VP candidate! His last town-hall debate made him look like he had lost a lot of movement in his right leg (or was it my right… I was watching him on TV afterall). Sure, we’ve had a capable President in a wheel-chair, but that was not a life-threatening illness that threatened to put the wrong person in the Oval Office.
I second your statement: All we can do is perform our patriotic duty and vote, then pray!
I’ll keep trying
